Re: Community
By the way, I'd like to know if you have any job openings at some point (or business ideas!); I'm especially interested in operation / management roles. Here's my résumé: https://matiroy.com/resume.html

Re: Community
I'm glad you shared this -- that makes sense.
At this point, I guess it's better for interested cryonicists to self-organize and rent a house near OregonCryo.

Just adding this info here given I'm using this link to refer people to my analysis of the Wait But Why cryonics article. Brandon SK shared on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/225747164231934?view=permalink&id=1763256940480941): > Reading through the comments in this excellent article, ...

> Mati_Roy, I think your projections are too optimistic. 13,000 patients in the next 40 years? I just published a post with more info on this: http://lessdead.com/how-many-humans-will-have-their-brain-preserved-forecasts-and-trends > Anyway, the number of patients or members doesn't really seem to c...

Re: Osiris and Dvir Derhy
I visited Osiris ~1.5 years ago. Dvir mentioned ze would prefer any amount of suffering to death (it's the same for me). Ze probably guessed it's the same for non-human animals (or something like that). Of course, this wasn't an actual dilemma here as there was the third option of avoiding both suff...

Re: Wait but Why
Thanks for writing this. Everything you wrote makes sense to me, except I think it's too harsh to say: > This might make you feel good, but it won't help you survive. The exception is if you live in Detroit, Phoenix, or maybe LA. Out of the 70 last Alcor patients, 20 died in Scottsdale or Phoenix of...

Re: Helping the cryonics cause
Thanks for the clarification. Maybe I shouldn’t take your claim literally. Maybe you say this in response to various people trying some form of outreach that is either useless or even harmful to the image and goal of cryonics, and possibly people that are not even themselves in a position to receive...

Re: Helping the cryonics cause
Jordan, I'm not sure what's your point. Is it one of those: a) That if one thinks they care about other people they are wrong about this preference and didn't introspect properly? b) That even if someone cares about other people, there's nothing they can do about it (with respect to cryonics)? (eith...

Re: 1% chance of survival
Jordan, I mostly agree with what you're saying. But I still say things like "I'm 40% confident that a cryopreservation under ideal conditions for our current technology will preserve more than 50% of my memories". I still think having a credence distribution over fraction of identity prese...

You really go out of you way to make the world a safer place. I was thinking about why you wouldn't offer remote standby. Beside the large cost, I thought about the following reasons: 1. If you send your team remotely for standby, then people in Salem are less well covered in case of emergency durin...

The first year it was done, in 2016, I was pretty annoyed that they extended their early registration discount many times. I felt like they were creating a false sense of urgency. For the 2016 edition, registrations opened on November 15, 2015, and here are various limit dates I could find for the e...

Re: ASC vs. O.C. $1K aldehyde bath + molecular brain scan
Re. aldehyde bath While I've mostly only read the abstract, and don't understand everything, this seems relevant: "Based on the diffusion model, the brain is not completely saturated in formalin until after 14.8 weeks of formalin immersion and, based on the observed changes in T1, T2, and PD, f...

That you say you will focus on improving preservation quality instead of increasing coverage area made me want to share the following musing. I'm currently debating (with myself) whether I should try to improve cryonics coverage in Québec, or instead move in the city of an existing cryonics organisa...

Thanks for posting this.
Oregon Cryonics is the only organisation in the world currently providing Aldehyde Stabilized Cryopreservation (ASC), correct? Since when do you offer this procedure? How do you think your procedure compares with Alcor's procedure?
