Number of forum views

I just noticed that a post I made last month has nearly 5000 views. There's no way. I would expect maybe around a hundred of those are legit, and many of those are repeats because it was an ongoing conversation. I suspect Russian bots because we've been getting a few Russian spammers. But still, 500...

Do-it-yourself storage

I've been having an email conversation with someone. The gist is that they want to exhume their mother who died in 2017 and preserve the body themselves. Just as an exercise for discussion, I will list out the cheapest possible path for doing this. I think it's a terrible idea, and the best way to c...

Re: Inspections during cryopreservation

Dennis, this person will also read your post and will probably be offended by it. I'm not here to criticize customers. We provide services out of compassion, and we try to help people understand the limits of what we can do. In any case, yes, this person has plenty of experience with technical compl...

Re: Inspections during cryopreservation

None of the cryonics organizations would be able to meet your requirements. Many of the requirements are impossible even if we were willing. There's no such thing as a transparent dewar. It is theoretically possible to place the body in an open container of LN2 and take photos from above, but the qu...

Re: Inspections during cryopreservation

Here was their response (I removed carriage returns to save space): Thanks. But I am not buying your rebuttal; or your additional explanations because: As a consumer, things need to be the way I request, or it is not happening. The below must be able to be incorporated into a contract with you or an...

Re: Inspections during cryopreservation

We do not currently plan on doing any checks while cryopreserved. The risks probably significantly outweigh the benefits. One risk would be accidental impact. Another risk would be allowing temperature fluctuation. The tissue must always remain completely submerged in liquid nitrogen. If a simple co...

Inspections during cryopreservation

I received the following email. It raises some interesting questions, so I thought I would post it here for everyone: Inspections of patients after stasis and long after status. Having gone through the Oregon Cryonic website; I found no information on inspections after patient stasis. I have traded ...

Re: Building shell is complete

Door frames and suspended ceilings are done. All this finishing stuff always seems to drag out. I've asked the architect to draw a set of stairs and two upstairs RRs. That will give us another 3000 sf on the second floor. There are a few reasons for this. The primary reason is that much of the upsta...

Re: Customers

I would say roughly even thirds. Between emails and phone calls, we make contact with about one new person per week. The absolute number was higher when our website was more optimistic, and I expect that number to return to higher once we return the website to a more optimistic stance.

Customers

We do still get a few customers even though I made it really clear on our main page that we are not capable of much right now. After a dry spell, we just got two brains in a row. We also get a few phone calls per month that don't result in us providing any services. Some of them are very sad, people...

Re: Building shell is complete

Electrical and plumbing rough-in are done. Drywall is underway. The 1500 L microbulk liquid nitrogen (LN2) tank has been ordered and will arrive soon. This tank is 8' tall and 4' in diameter, so it's not huge. We don't go through a lot of LN2, but it's essential that we always have it on hand and th...

Ugh. I'm so embarrassed. I'm terrible with names. Yes, of course Dr. Kendziorra travelled to Salem to talk with me a couple of years ago. But the part of the conversation that I remembered was regarding the new EBF facility in Switzerland. So when I came across Tomorrow Biostasis, I forgot that it w...

Tomorrow Biostasis

I was recently made aware of Tomorrow Biostasis: https://tomorrowbiostasis.com/ Looks exciting! From a brief review of their website, it looks like they have about $1M in funding to start, no building that I could see, and two enthusiastic guys, but no other staff. There's a really cool picture of t...

Re: Cryopreservation procedure (ASC)

There are so many tradeoffs between different protocols that you really need someone with a lot of expertise to make judgements. For example, I've been pushing for the very fast carotid approach. But the tradeoff is that the occipital area of the brain will likely be poorly perfused in a small subse...

Re: Cryopreservation procedure (ASC)

First of all, just so we're clear, Oregon Cryonics doesn't have an actual process. We instead have a planned process. One scientific paper does not define exactly what our process might look like, but it does point us in the right direction. Once the building is done, we will begin the hard work of ...

Biological Revival

Someone asked me today if our proposed technique, Aldehyde Stabilized Cryopreservation (ASC), would still allow for biological revival. This person wants their original self back rather than a perfect copy. I very strongly disagree that a functional copy of the brain would not be equivalent to the o...

Over the years, I've purchased some land to expand my software company. In the process, I've ended up with seven rental houses, so I've naturally toyed with the idea of building a cryonics community. At one point, I even had plans drawn up for an RV park on part of the property. But here's the probl...

I happened to come across a recent video of Bill Faloon giving one of his many talks about anti-aging: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cHI6JtVLc8 I wouldn't necessarily recommend wasting your time watching it. Re: Exponential Growth

Ha ha. I just read an article in Politico where the author referred to the spread of the virus in California as logarithmic. That's not quite right. Logarithmic growth (aka logistic growth) usually refers to the inverse of exponential growth, when the curve starts out steep and then levels off. It's...

Building shell is complete

The shell of our new 8000 sf building is complete. It's now weatherproof and secure, interior framing is done, and landscaping is done. Progress will continue slowly over the next year or so. It will need heat, electricity, drywall, etc.

Exponential Growth

Exponential growth refers to a doubling over a period of time. For example, computer hardware power has been doubling every 3 years or so. Kurzweil claims that this exponential growth can be generalized to technology as a whole, and that this has been happening for thousands of years or longer. I ag...
