I don't know. Maybe seven. We discourage it unless you live in Salem. It's totally pointless to sign up for a service that is so far away that nobody can possibly get to you in time. This is also why I let my Alcor and CI memberships lapse years ago. You really need to live in the same city as your cryonics provider or you are just giving yourself dangerously false hope. There are a few exceptions, like LA. My opinion is that being a remote member is not "better than nothing", but everyone has their own opinions about this.

Hmm. Salem real estate is a little expensive.

I am currently an alcor member, but am underfunded via whole life insurance by a few thousand dollars.

i worry about alcor raising prices and me having to come up with tens of thousands in cash.

So I would have to live in salem proper? I could not live somewhere in a small town nearby?

I have talked to CI, but there are issues there too--the weather, car insurance, the whole big city thing, and the michigan state laws relating to cryonics.

Thanks for your prompt responses.

I'm assuming you've already downgraded to neuro, if possible. I'm also assuming you're talking about a few years from now, when we are fully up and running. Nearby small towns don't seem like a good idea to me because that distance would add significant time to any response. But a 30 minute wait for actual cryonics professionals would still be much better than having a remote funeral home perform a useless ritual. I don't have any easy answers. Maybe live with a roommate to bring the cost down a little?

yes, I am currently working in the mountain west area and will be retiring and relocating near to where my cryonics provider is located. I don't know when I will be retiring. Possibly this year or possibly 5 years from now.

I have always been signed up for neuro. Do you have members currently living in oregon or in salem?

thanks

On 2015-12-13 you said about 10 (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4).

If you want to take the time to get the exact number, I would document that on the Timeline of brain preservation (https://timelines.issarice.com/wiki/Tim ... eservation).

I assume it's not really your main metric of interest at the moment, but if it's easy enough for you to get, I would find it interesting (either just the current count, or the full historical count).
