My first froggy
https://i.postimg.cc/cCzNrPJJ/froggy.png If I had to guess, the closest field would be robot chips rather than AI chips. It's possible to buy cheap 250 micrometer diameter fiber optic cables, compared to the brain's axons which are 0.1 micrometers to 10 micrometers. Because light is one million tim...

Re: Emulating a recursive torus frog brain to eat drosophila simulations in 70 milliseconds
Update on my neuromorphic computer. I started working on spherical fiber optic cable routing algorithms. The reason to use light is that it is faster than electricity (about twice as fast or so) and also that it doesn't create much heat like copper lattice. My idea is that its not necessary to think...

Re: Emulating a recursive torus frog brain to eat drosophila simulations in 70 milliseconds
The reason why I believe neuromorphic computers will be necessary is that GPUs are already reaching atomic limits: it's mentioned in the review.

Re: Emulating a recursive torus frog brain to eat drosophila simulations in 70 milliseconds
Since I first posted this, I've been sidequesting solving the neuromorphic computer bottleneck. I read this overview paper . Below, you can see an example of the structure I designed for my first project, which I am calling Frog Emissary , it's based on Grimm's The Frog Prince fairy tale. The idea h...

Re: Getting Japan 'on board' as a broad market and technology acceleration strategy
I wanted to follow up to bring up that Japan's Brain/MINDS project is focused on mapping genetically modified Marmosets, which is a phenominally cool approach to choose.

Frog Emissary neuromorphic computer project
The current estimates for costs to upload people to computers are very grim. The jist is that neuromophic computing is in its research infancy and Jensen Huang and Lisa Su are not going to save anyone but their shareholders from 2003 with GPUs. Although GPUs may be capable of creating forms of gener...

Getting Japan 'on board' as a broad market and technology acceleration strategy
<r>Currently 99.9% of people in Japan who die get cremated.<br/> This is very sad because there are a lot of great robotics and game developers as well as some manga illustrators, scientists, electric motor manufacturers, and cosplayer women in Japan I want to save from information theoretic death.<...

Re: Sparks Brain Uploader
My first thought is that a rule based molecular tagging parameter system sounds similar to entity component systems like flecs . Although, there are many problems that would occur getting graph compression and spatial partition algorithms to support system throughput, as well as running neural syste...

I guess this post is mostly a high concept piece about the compounding and inflation on the way up meeting the cost reduction on the way down and guessing where they meet.

With regard to one of the intermediate 3rd parties, I can't imagine a better representitive than an AI model directly prompted by the original person on how to judge decisions on their behalf.

I'll bring you back for a billion dollars
I've been thinking about how much to charge for revival to make it accessible to everyone and I think a good starting point is one billion dollars . Your first impression might be, woah! That's so much money! Only the uber wealthy people like Elon Musk can pay for it. That's not fair: what about all...

Reconstruction of the non-brain human body as a robot
I think a strong case for body preservation is not necessarily biological restoration of the body itself, but to use the preserved body as data for construction of a humanoid robot with the same physical structure, for nostalgia and continuity. Same skeleton, but setup for spacefaring. What do you t...

Re: Thoughts on The Afterlife Industry
It's true that data loss is part of life if you're not a Borg (backup software) cyborg, especially if you get hit by the big one (I hope the brain vats have some padding to ride out a 10 without getting nasty concussions!). I was initially drawn to chemical biostasis, to Sparks, over cryonics based ...

Call it what you will, an artificial afterlife, post-life memory care, a Google-L11-God complex, or about time there was an honest-to-AGI seastead. There seems to not be any organizations, to use a term I learned from John L. Pollock, 'backward chaining' from the post-upload objective state towards ...
