Transport of vitrified brain

Post by Mecsrt »

Hi Jordan,
I have a consultation. I manage a case in Europe, for send to Switzerland. Its a brain preservation with vm-1 at 60-70%
It's about the package. After try to read every info about the topic, I find its put the brain in a plastic bucket filled with VM-1 and them tu put in a box with thermal insulation walls and dry ice.
It's a proper way? Or I need another thing to consider.
Thanks and regards.

For your specific situation, your approach sounds reasonable. It's hard to keep the container from leaking. If shipping by airline, don't leave any air space in the bucket, because that can expand at altitude and cause a leak. Also, airlines have limits on dry ice. If shipping ground or specialty transport, that's all less of a problem. Finally, make sure to have very good secondary containment with lots of absorbent in case it does leak. Good luck.
